Smooth Sailing with the Marees: Your Expert Yacht Crew and Gourmet Chefs

Ahoy there, fellow seafarers!

Allow us to introduce ourselves - we are Michael and Marica Maree, your trusty yacht crew and your hosts on the high seas. Not only are we seasoned sailors with over 25,000 nautical miles under our belts, but we also bring a unique set of skills to the table.

Michael may have grown up as a farmer, but he's always had a passion for all things mechanical and electronic. Growing up on a farm, he learned how to fix just about anything - a skill that's proved invaluable when out at sea. Plus, he's been around boats his whole life, with his family owning several fishing boats. So you can rest assured that he knows his way around a vessel.

As for Marica, she's always been a lover of adventure and the great outdoors. She's an expert in whipping up delicious meals and entertaining guests, making her the perfect person to have on board when you're in need of a good meal or a laugh.

Before we embarked on our yachting adventures, we owned a restaurant and coffee house where we honed our culinary skills and passion for entertaining. We loved catering for big gatherings and bringing people together over delicious food and drinks.

Our love for yachting began when we joined a friend on a race from Inhaca Island in Mozambique back to Richards Bay in South Africa. After that, we were hooked! We got our necessary qualifications and sea miles by crewing on deliveries, and the rest is history. We've been sailing in all oceans, from the Indian Ocean to the Caribbean to the East Coast of America.

With over 12 years of combined charter experience, we've seen it all - the good, the bad, and the wavy. But no matter what the conditions, we always prioritize your safety and comfort above all else. Whether you're looking for a leisurely sunset sail or an action-packed adventure, we got you covered. So hop aboard our luxurious WEIHAII, sit back, relax, and get ready for an unforgettable voyage!

We can't wait to set sail with you!

Abacos, March 25 – April 1, 2023
Vacation of our lifetime! The crew was phenomenal - we were pampered from start to finish! Chef Marica was very attentive to our preference sheets and hit it out of the park for EVERY meal (especially with the kids:)! Each meal was a masterpiece! Cabins were maintained daily and sheets/towels midweek. Lovely indoor and outdoor areas – and the hot/cold outside shower makes a huge difference after swimming in the ocean! The crew kept it clean and tidy the entire time and our cabins were comfortable, huge master cabin!! We used all the water toys for snorkeling, paddle boarding, floating on rafts, water skiing, fishing you name it!
Exumas, April 4-7, 2023
We became instant friends with Captain Mike and Chef Marica, so welcoming crew! They were very knowledgeable of the area, and bent over backwards to meet our needs! The water was beautiful, the spots for snorkeling were perfect and the food that Marica made was simply amazing. Everything was super fresh and the ingredients were unique and delicious! We will definitely come back!
June 2023
This was our first time chartering a boat and it certainly exceeded our expectations. First, the boat is magnificent. We had so much room and all of it is comfortable. Equally important to our enjoyment was the crew. Michael and Marika were both outstanding. They both were skilled sailors and cooks. Their experience in chartering really came through particularly when the weather was less than cooperative. They never hesitated to put our safety first while somehow making sure we still enjoyed every day even when the weather caused a change in itinerary. They were able to manage this due to their deep knowledge of the Bahamas and Caribbean after years of both chartering and managing charters throughout the region. With this knowledge, they made every day, every meal, and particularly sundowners a true experience.
