Meet Captain John, a renowned environmentalist and passionate marine explorer who has dedicated his life to raising awareness about the beauty and fragility of our oceans. From a young age, John's fascination with the sea inspired him to become an avid free diver, scuba diver, and professional photographer.
John served in the military for 8 years as a paratrooper, where he developed a strong sense of discipline and commitment. This experience further fueled his dedication to protecting the environment and led him to combine his love for the ocean with his professional skills.

As a photographer, John has captured stunning images of the ocean's unique beauty, which have been featured on the covers of well-respected magazines and eco-advocacy campaigns. Through his photography, John seeks to inspire compassion and a sense of awe towards the ocean, encouraging people to become more invested in protecting its delicate ecosystems.

With over 10 years of experience as a yacht captain, John's love of the ocean has led him to pursue his own endeavor as the captain and owner of MY Hülya, a state-of-the-art yacht designed for eco-tourism and scientific research. Through his years of experience, John has gained a deep understanding of the ocean and the delicate ecosystem that exists within it. With MY Hülya, he aims to use his expertise to change the way people view and interact with marine wildlife, particularly sharks, while also promoting sustainable tourism practices. Join Captain John aboard MY Hülya and experience the wonders of the ocean while learning how we can all play a role in preserving it for future generations.

Through his life aboard MY Hülya, John hopes to inspire others to appreciate and protect the ocean's diverse inhabitants. Whether through guided eco-tours or scientific research expeditions, John is committed to promoting a deeper understanding of the ocean and its vital importance to our planet.

Join Captain John on his journey towards creating a more sustainable future for our oceans and all the creatures that call it home.

Hannah Patten - Chef/Stew:
With over a five years of yachting service, Hannah is the Chef and owner of the luxury yacht, MY Hülya. Four years ago, Hannah became increasingly concerned about the abundance of plastic in the oceans and waterways, which prompted her to create a bikini line made from recycled plastics found in the ocean, which is lovingly named Hülya Swim.

As a trained chef and stewardess of MY Hülya, Hannah not only serves as a guide to her guests but also as a personal chef who expertly prepares local and sustainably for their enjoyment. Her years of experience as a yacht chef have taught her the importance of responsible tourism practices, and she is dedicated to promoting sustainability in all aspects of her work.

Through her efforts aboard MY Hülya, Hannah hopes to create a movement of sustainable tourism, where people can experience the beauty of the ocean without harming it. She believes that by educating people about the importance of sustainability and environmental conservation, we can create a brighter future for our planet.

Join Hannah on her mission to dream, discover, and sustain, and witness the positive impact that years of yachting service and dedication to sustainability can have on the world.

Taylor Zeno - Stew & Mate - 1995

When Taylor Zeno steps aboard, the ordinary transforms into the extraordinary. With years of experience in luxury yachting and a flair for hospitality, from setting the scene with stunning table scapes to curating bespoke drink menus and themed events, her creativity knows no bounds.

Taylor’s warm personality and keen eye for detail ensure every moment on board feels effortless and indulgent. Whether she’s designing a “Drink of the Day,” organizing a surprise celebration, or crafting unforgettable game nights, her dedication to excellence is unmatched.

But Taylor isn’t just about the details—she’s about the magic. A true multi-tasker, she seamlessly juggles interior operations, supports exterior tasks, and even creates amazing activities for guests even when weather looks grim. Her ability to anticipate needs and add personal touches turns every trip into a story worth sharing.

Get ready to relax, indulge, and make memories—because with Taylor on board, your charter becomes an experience like no other!

Coral - Comfort Companion

Meet Coral, a lovable dog who was originally trained by the Southeastern Guide Dog program to serve as a guide dog for individuals with visual impairments. However, due to a visual defect of her own, Coral was unable to fulfill her duties as a working dog and was adopted by Hannah to serve as her companion.

Now, Coral proudly serves as the mascot of Hannah and John's sailing yacht, accompanying them on their oceanic adventures and providing endless joy and entertainment. Despite her disability, Coral is a dream dog who has a thirst for knowledge and is always eager to learn new tricks. Her favorite pastime is going for rides on the boat and swimming in the ocean with her human companions. Coral is a natural-born swimmer who loves to explore the depths of the ocean, catching conch and lobster with her mouth. She has an undeniable passion for the water and is a true adventurer at heart

Coral's playful and affectionate nature has endeared her to everyone she meets, and she has become an integral part of Hannah and John's cruising crew. Whether lounging on deck or splashing in the water, Coral's presence brings a sense of joy and companionship to all those around her.

Join Coral on her oceanic adventures and witness the bond between humans and animals that transcends all boundaries.

We absolutely loved our week on board. Thank you for making Dylan's 16th so sweet and for helping us ring in 2024 in the most memorable way. We will forever treasure the memories we made as the Barefoot Bandits! With love, The Thornton Family
.
Is it August yet??!! We have not had a better family vacation. EVER. This was my husband and my second time aboard with Hannah and John. We were so impressed the first trip, that we couldn’t wait to bring our two kids back with us to share the experience again just in a new part of the Bahamas. Hanna, John and coral (the pup) are an awesome team. They make you feel as though you are home with them all day every day. They are both incredibly talented underwater photographers, and boat keepers. Hanna is a fabulous chef, she cooks up the tastiest fresh healthiest snacks, meals and cocktails. Her attention to details is amazing. There was never a meal that had the same table setting twice. Captain John is the underwater whisper; he will put out fish bait boxes for you to get up close and personal with all underwater friends. We saw (and swam with) black tip sharks, hammerhead sharks, nurse sharks, turtles, dolphins, and an abundance of beautiful fish. We pet sting rays and nurse sharks on this trip as well! Hanna and John’s passion for wildlife shows; they are kind, respectful and knowledgeable about the Sealife and definitely know how to show you a good time with them as well. My 6- and 8- year-old daughters were obsessed with the underwater scooters, stand up paddle boards and floating docks that they have aboard. They provide 5-star company and 5-star service the whole time. We have already booked out next adventure with them for whale sharks, and Bahamas again in a year. We cannot wait!!!! Thank you, Hanna and John!! We all miss you!!!!
.
After a little time and reflection I couldn’t be happier. This was a new adventure for our family that I was driving and wanting to have an experience they wouldn’t forget. It really was an amazing experience. While Mother Nature was in her glory and on full display which was incredible to be a part of. Hannah and John- you were awesome as well, there’s a lot of love on that boat. Your love for the ocean, what you do, and each other was contagious. Thank you, my friends!! The "M" Family
.
What an experience! We extended our 3 night trip to 4 because we didn't want to leave! John and Hannah were gracious hosts and instantly made us feel at home. They make an excellent team and were more than accommodating and attentive. Hannah's attention to detail and preparation of beautiful meals and drinks made the trip even more luxurious. John's knowledge and leadership made us feel safe and prepared for any adventure! Swimming with sharks, feeding pigs, cave snorkeling, hidden beaches etc. Trip of a lifetime, can't wait to come back!!! Bianca
.
OMG… can’t believe I haven’t written my review yet, must clearly be because I’m still living off my high from the most thought out, well planned, inspirational and mind blowing experience I had. I left Purely Blu charters with even more of an appreciation for the open ocean, the sea life we get to cohabit with and enjoy. Captain John is incredibly confident and knowledgeable of the seas that he’s exploring, and has the best partner by his side doing it. Hanna whipped up the best creative delicious treats for every meal and snack one could possibly imagine. Of course we were all super excited to meet sweet sea pup coral too, she’s just such an added love to this amazing experience. Not only did I have an unforgettable experience with my husband and friends, but booked to return in February with our children to let them explore with us all too. WHAT A TRIP, still on cloud 9! Anna

The vessel was fantastic, beautiful, well maintained and gave us the opportunity to do all that we wanted. And while the boat was amazing, the crew, Bret and Kendra, were could not have been better. The service and experience they created was beyond words. Bret created and delivered a boating / yachting experience that was well beyond expectations. Kendra was not only an affective “first-mate” but, more importantly to us, is a very creative chef delivering some of the best food that we have experienced. Both went out of their way to insure each of us had an event that was beyond our expectations. Alan & guests

Bianca

Anna

March 10-13, 2023
The vessel was fantastic, beautiful, well maintained and gave us the opportunity to do all that we wanted. And while the boat was amazing, the crew, Bret and Kendra, were could not have been better. The service and experience they created was beyond words. Bret created and delivered a boating / yachting experience that was well beyond expectations. Kendra was not only an affective “first-mate” but, more importantly to us, is a very creative chef delivering some of the best food that we have experienced. Both went out of their way to insure each of us had an event that was beyond our expectations. Alan & guests
