Captain
Jim McNiel
Nation: US
Born: 1979
License: Master 50 ton, STCW
Languages: English
As a lifetime boater and diver, Jim McNiel would be honored to share his love of boating and the water with you. He’s owned boats his entire life ranging from old stand up jet ski’s to runabouts. But, in 2018, he quit his job in the corporate world (as an IT sales engineer) to be the captain on his 44’ French sailing catamaran for guests like you! Jim has been doing charters with phenomenal reviews for over two years in St. Petersburg, FL… but you can’t compare Florida to the Caribbean so here we are. Jim is not only a USCG 50 Ton Master captain and a PADI Rescue Diver, but he is also a private pilot, certified skydiver, graduated from Western Michigan University and also loves to cook! He can replicate most dishes, such as Pad Thai from his recent trip to Thailand, a filet on the grill or the most amazing shrimp tacos ever. Jim will take the utmost care of you and your family and/or guests… so rest assured, you are in good hands!!!! Jim sincerely wants nothing but for you and your guests to have the most amazing experience, with memories to last a lifetime as you embark on your journey together.
And- we almost missed introducing Jim’s partner in crime! Meet Louie! If you and your guests are dog lovers, you will find a furry friend on your journey. (Please note Louie can be boarded and left on the island if a dog onboard is not your preference). Louie prefers to come along for the ride with his dad (Jim), as his passion is also boating and meeting everyone he possibly can. When your family is on vacation, sometimes stuffed animals don’t fit in your suitcase! Louie loves kids and kids love him. Captain Jim has found that most kids love having a dog onboard. Louie welcomes cuddling for the night (if that is what a guest choses!). Louie can also sleep with Captain Jim and (if you let Louie proceed on your journey), he would appreciate peanut butter, your attention, and long runs on the beach. Louie is a 3 year old wire haired Terrier / Box mix (we think!). Jim adopted him from Joplin, MO and can’t imagine a better fit! Louie can be boarded for a charter at client request.

Day sailing on a beautiful luxury catamaran
My family had nothing but great things to say about Jim on their recent boat trip on Dec 7th . They had a great time and thought Jim was very helpful with any questions they had about the boat. They would highly recommend him to anyone considering taking a boat trip with him.
Thank you,
Sheila Borge & Family
Fantastic Experience!!
Fantastic experience sailing with Captain Jim! The communication beforehand and the hospitality while on board were both excellent. He was super flexible with our departure time and took great care of us as a group. The Iremía is a gorgeous boat with every convenience you need for a day of fun in the sun. There is tons of lounging room, a great sound system and even a paddleboard! I highly, highly recommend a day sail with Captain Jim. It was an A+ day on the water and we would book again in a heartbeat!
-Natalie

Best 4th of July
We did a full day charter with Jim on July 4th and had a fantastic trip! He was very generous in accommodating our group of five friends. The catamaran was beautiful, well appointed and spotless. We brought our own food & drinks aboard and just enjoyed the leisurely sail to Egmont Key. Capt. Jim singlehanded the boat perfectly, even when we experienced a brief storm squall. He was fun & knowledgeable, and had a great playlist of music for sun & sailing! I will definitely charter with Jim again! I highly recommend this charter to anyone looking for a relaxing, luxurious day on the water in St. Pete Beach sailing with Capt. Jim!
-Angie

One Of Our Favorite Trips In The Caribbean
Captain Jim and Louie were the perfect hosts on our week aboard Iremia. We have taken a number of sailing trips around the Caribbean and this trip was one of our favorites! The boat was great; very clean and well appointed. Jim could not have been any more accommodating and agreeable to a flexible schedule.
And if that wouldn't be enough to make a great trip.... he is a GREAT cook! The breakfasts were a terrific surprise; not normally being breakfast eaters, we felt spoiled every morning. Couldn't recommend a trip with Captain Jim (and Louie) aboard Iremia any more highly. Looking forward to our next rip with them!!!
Best birthday EVER!!!!
