Captain Louis: A Passionate Mariner with a Wealth of Experience

Captain Louis Conradie, a native of Durban’s Bluff on South Africa’s East Coast, exudes a friendly and outgoing personality that draws people in. With a lifelong love for the sea and a passion for entertaining and connecting with others, Louis embodies the adventurous spirit of a true seafarer.

Louis’ journey with the ocean began at a young age, dedicating his free time to surfing, scuba diving, windsurfing, and sailing. By the age of 17, his determination and passion led him to co-own a 27-foot yacht—a pivotal milestone that marked the start of his sailing career. Since then, Louis has amassed countless nautical miles, honing his craft and gaining extensive knowledge of sailing and boating across South Africa’s diverse ports.

In recent years, Louis, as captain, along with his wife, Tersia, as chef, has delivered exceptional charter experiences in sought-after destinations. In 2023, they delighted guests while chartering in the USVI and BVI aboard Fountaine Pajot vessels, including a Saba 50. Chef / Stew Tersia: A Passion for Culinary Arts and Exceptional Hospitality

Tersia Conradie grew up in sunny Johannesburg, South Africa, where she cultivated a love for connection and creativity. After completing her senior certificate, she earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance from RA University. However, after years in the corporate world, Tersia discovered that her true passion lay not in numbers, but in people—and in creating memorable experiences for them.

Meeting her husband, Louis, on a sailing holiday further sparked her love for the ocean, which became the foundation for their shared adventures in yachting and chartering.

During the 2023 season in the Caribbean, Tersia dazzled guests with her exceptional hosting and delectable cuisine, leaving a lasting impression on all who sailed with her. I wish that there were more than 5 stars! Our group of four couples went sailing for eight days with Captain Louis Conradie and his wife, first mate and chef, Tersia. We sailed the BVI's. The Captain and he=is wide made the entire trip amazing! I cant emphasize this enough, it wasn't so much the boat but THEY made it amazing. They were fun and accommodating, the captain found us beautiful bay's in which to anchor and explore, a fun excursion on Virgin Gorda and The Baths, The Indians, fun restaurants when we wanted them. But one of my big asks on the trip was snorkeling, we love snorkeling and captain Louis found us amazing places only he knew about. But the food on the boat? Chef Tersia created meals to our exact tastes that were simply unbelievable! I would go back if only to experience her cooking again. I wish I could have taken her home as a full time chef for us! On three nights we opted to eat in fun, quaint restaurants, rather than onboard the boat, I think our entire group felt that her cooking well exceeded any of the meals that we found off the boat. Many thanks to Captain Louis and Tersia for a fantastic experience. We all left feeling we had made new, great friends for life!

Ya'll, these folks are the WAY TO GO! When we started looking with very short notice, the gentleman we spoke with worked non-stop to get us with the closest set-up to what we needed. We originally were trying to get on a power catamaran, but there were none available on our requested price range in the Bahamas. But he worked through an evening and most of a day to match us with a sail catamaran that would get the job done, and we are so thankful he did! We were set up with the most incredible Captain and Chef - Louis and Tersia. I've never met such kind and accommodating people from the moment they sent a welcome letter through the entire trip. They were in constant contact asking any of our preferences and special requests and doing everything in their power to make it all happen. And her meals - 15 OUT OF 10! Above and beyond what we were expecting...from the taste to the presentation, every bite we took was delicious! She even made us a Thanksgiving dinner - AND they helped us set a projector up for the Thanksgiving football games! PS -I've never had turkey so moist and perfectly cooked. EVER. Captain Louis kept us informed and asked our opinions on the itinerary, taking any must-do-excursions in mind. We encountered great weather, so we've been lucky there, but I'm sure there was a large part that the captain took into consideration to keep us comfortable and safe. Long-winded story short, do everything you can to make it happen with this crew. They make you feel like royalty while being a part of the family with you. Ill never forget this trip!

We recently returned from a week trip with Captain Louis and chef Tersia to the BVI. We had the most wonderful week with them. They were so warm and welcoming! Louis knew all the great spots to snorkel, swim and eat. Chef Tersia was the best and most accommodating chef ever! We requested a very specific menu that we wanted and she did all of it! Her food was amazing! It was so nice waking up to a full breakfast and coffee each morning! They also bought all the alcohol we wanted and replenished it whenever we needed something! We had so much fun with them! They recommended Saba Rock for dinner in Virgin Gorda and it was awesome! Our other favorites were The Baths, Soggy Dollar in Jost Van Dyke, Foxy's at night, Willy T's, Pizza Pi boat and just hanging out on the boat with our family and Louis and Tersia. We cannot wait to go again and we would definitely sail with them again!
