British Virgin Islands

Your Guide To An All-Inclusive Yacht Charter

Pricing and current availability are based on seven nights at full board and include a licensed crew, standard bar, operating expenses, cruising taxes, and various water toys. For more details on exact inclusions, please visit our FAQ-Caribbean Inclusions section. Many charter yachts offer 4-6 night charters, sleep aboard rates, child discounts, captain-only rates, and are flexible on their meal plans. Please contact us directly for a quote specific to your group’s details. Our Virgin Island featured yachts are constantly growing and changing, so if there is a specific yacht you are interested in, please let us know and we will confirm availability and pricing!

There are a lot of wonderful attractions located in the British Virgin Islands, which makes it one of the most popular destinations for the charter industry. With over 60 islands to explore, you can easily do a charter every year and still find new places. While all crews work with a basic itinerary, each charter is customized to the activity and interests of our clients. So, while we will send you a basic itinerary of what you can expect, your actual charter itinerary will be based on your preferences as well as the weather conditions for the time of your charter.

We invite you to browse through our Virgin Island featured yacht offers which include updated photos, crew bios, sample menus, guest reviews, and pricing details based on a 7-night charter. The pricing noted in the featured yachts section are intended to give you an overall idea of pricing as they are subject to change until your charter is confirmed. Most of the yachts featured on The British Virgin Islands page are based in Nanny Cay Marina on Tortola, BVI. Many offer complimentary pick up from other locations, while a few charge extra for alternate base location pick up. Please contact us to confirm location pick up.

Due to changing charter yacht entrance and exit, we recommend charter guests begin and end their British Virgin Island yacht charter from Tortola.

We know how much you all have missed the BVI’S over the last few years….so just in case you need your “BVI Fix” right now….please visit: The Soggy Dollar Webcam to help keep you excited until your trip!

Once again, Mandy and WLMS hit a home run! We had a great family trip on Oceana, a great boat for 6 people. Umbi and Judith could not have been a better crew! Judith is an excellent chef and we could not have asked for a better week of dining. We loved everything she prepared. Umbi was a great and attentive captain that delivered on some great spots in the BVIs that we had not visited on previous trips. Oceana was a great 48' cat with lots of fantastic upgrades. We would recommend the Cat and the Crew to anyone!! Chartering a Cat in the BVIs is the best trip we have ever done! If you are looking to relax and see some incredible islands, sailing in the BVIs is the best you can find. Great value! We all give it 5 stars!! And Mandy Walker at WLMS makes it so easy! And she knows the islands well!!

Mandy and WLMS helped steer us to the perfect boat and crew for our recent BVI adventure. Our catamaran “The Pursuit” along with Cap’n Ron, Katy, and Chef Val could not have been better for our group of 5 retired couples. Truly great folks and fun to be with. Mandy was there at every step to help guide us through the process and answered all of our questions along the way. She even coordinated her driver in St. Thomas to help get us around the island for the days we stayed in advance of the sail. Mandy’s knowledge, professionalism, and care for her clients was key to our enjoyment and we will not hesitate to work through her again for our next trip.

We have had the pleasure of working with Mandy and Rory now on 2 occasions. When we decided it was time to arrange another adventure there was no hesitation in who we would entrust to find and plan the perfect charter. They are so efficient, responsive and professional they make the process from start to finish both fun and informative. These ladies know the business, the locales, the boats, crews and everything that will leave you feeling 100% confident the trip will be flawless. We have now visited the BVI and Greece with them so their expertise and knowledge are wide reaching. I cannot recommend them enough and they will be our go to for the next trip without question...Croatia and Turkey high on the list! Thanks WLMS:) See you soon.

As a travel agent I can easily say that Mandy is a dream to work with (and trust me I can't say this about everyone). She is always quick to respond with a phone call, text or email. We found the perfect boat for my clients, the Midnight Moon. Not only did they love the boat but they loved the crew just as much. They had so much fun in the Bahamas. I can't wait to work with Mandy on another trip. She is truly such a nice, genuine person and is on top of everything.

One of our best vacations ever! This was exactly the relaxing trip we needed. Max and Whitey, our incredible crew, were an essential part of that. So experienced, knowledgeable and talented, they were wonderful company and peerless hosts. If you are ever lucky enough to book a cruise on the Nutmeg with them, don’t miss your chance. We all still miss Max’s delicious meals and Whitey’s jokes! Planning and then taking this trip in the midst of the Omicron wave of the pandemic was confusing and nerve wracking! If not for Mandy Walker, our cruise broker, Max, and Whitey, it never would have happened. They kept us up to date on changing restrictions and offered sound advice on how to navigate testing requirements. We had never done a private cruise before and lucked out in finding Mandy. She worked hard to understand us and our needs and then recommended a crew and boat that were a perfect fit for us. I talked with a number of yacht brokers before working with Mandy and none were as thorough and professional as she. The BVI certainly delivered for us with perfect weather and amazing sunsets. But Mandy, Max and Whitey made this a trip we will never forget.

Our experience working with Mandy was absolute perfection. Our charter was originally scheduled to set sail in March of 2020 but was suddenly cancelled due to Covid. During that crazy time of uncertainty, Mandy kept in very close contact with us regarding the future of our charter and was able to get us re-scheduled for 2021 on an incredible boat with a top notch crew. From the very first phone call to the day of the charter 18 months later, every question we had was answered quickly. We felt like she had a genuine interest in helping to make our vacation one to remember, which it most definitely was.

Working with Mandy at WLMS Charters is perfection. My journey with her started 4 years ago. I had been looking at houses to rent after going on a cruise to Tortola and while searching some boats came up. Sailing peaked my interest because I had done a sailing trip when I was younger. Behind the inquiry was Mandy. Just in email I knew she was the right person to pick the right boat and crew for a trip with my then 4 year old and almost 10 year old. We picked a crew and boat and then the hurricanes hit. She stood by replying to emails instantly and assuring us we could either delay our trip or be refunded. I later found out she was going through something personal and I would have never known because of her professionalism through it all. We decided to delay after shuffling boats and a new crew and charter 1 happened. Then charter 2 and just 3 days off the boat from charter 3. The most recent charter we had another family so a larger boat and new crew were in order and she once again guided us to perfection. She truly listens and knows the industry very well. I would charter a boat without knowing anything about it with her recommendation anyday. I can not say enough how easy Mandy is to work with and how thorough she is . 3 years and 3 charters later with Mandy guiding us. Time for charter 4!

Working with Mandy to book our dream vacation was flawless. Mandy is responsive, intuitive, organized, and extremely helpful in finding the best charter for your needs. After reviewing the different options she sent us, we ended up on Playtime. We had an incredible time sailing through the BVIs and couldn't have been happier. Our Captains, Kelsey and Tyler, were absolutely wonderful and made this trip even better than we thought possible. Thank you Mandy for making our dreams come true!

WHERE CAN WE GO?

General Itinerary: (Please note: this is a general itinerary of what you can expect. Your actual itinerary will be dictated by weather conditions at the time of charter along with your group’s preferences) Please use the following itinerary as a guide for ideas to discuss with your crew.

British Virgin Island Itinerary

Tortola Start:

If you are arriving into St. Thomas, we recommend taking the ferry or taking a private water taxi to Tortola and either going directly to your charter OR stay the night in Tortola so that you can maximize your time on charter. Charter starts at 12pm. Enjoy a leisure sail while you get accustomed to your yacht for the week. Where Land Meets Sea Yacht Charters will help you determine the best transfer option based on your flight details and group dynamics.

Day 1: Nanny Cay – Norman Island

DISTANCE: 6nm

DURATION: 45m

Norman Island is on the edge of the Frances Drake Channel, lying close to Tortola and Peter Island, and part of the British Virgin Islands.  Legend has it that treasure is buried here and was perhaps the island behind Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island.
Bight is one of the most scenic harbours, offering over 100 moorings and is an ideal spot from where you can dive and snorkel, or set off on some fantastic hiking trails. Any stop here is not complete without a visit to Pirates Bight oceanfront, pavilion style beach club & restaurant.

Day 2: Norman Island – Cooper Island

DISTANCE: 9nm

DURATION: 1h 5m

Splash in the sea, soak up the flaming sunsets, and snorkel your way through shimmering coral gardens as you fall into island time on Cooper Island. This 480 acre island is home to a private resort and marina perched on Manchioneel Bay. It’s a naturally located stop for those sailing along the blue pearly waters of the BVI as they make their way to The Baths. There’s a beach for sprawling, a coast for kayaking, a rum bar for rocking up in the twinkling evenings, and everything you need to make it a magical mooring.

The eco resort that occupies Cooper Island is all barefoot bliss, but even beyond the retreat walls, the island is pure sailors bliss. Just opposite you can find Wreck Alley – a popular diving site in the BVI for those who love exploring sunken shores.

Day 3: Cooper Island – The Baths

DISTANCE: 5nm

DURATION: 40m

The unrivaled star of Virgin Gorda – The Baths is a fairytale destination for any yacht charter crowd. As one of the best beaches in the Caribbean, you will love this landscape of pink granite slabs, hidden coves, cathedral-like caves, and shimmering saltwater pools all perched on the edge of the sea. The boulders have been adorned with ladders and ropes so you can climb and cross this natural obstacle course. Wallow in the warm rock water pools, soak up the sun on your favorite boulder, and be enchanted by the natural grottos. When you need a hint of refreshment, the nearby yacht club will tempt you in with long lavish lunches and afternoons being pampered at the spa.

Mid Day Option: Mountain Point on Virgin Gorda

Day 4: The Baths – Saba Rock

DISTANCE: 7nm

DURATION: 1h 0m

Beautifully positioned between the holy trinity of Prickly Pear, Necker Island, and the impressive Virgin Gorda, Saba Rock is a destination in its own right. The bright and gauzy Baths are just a few kilometers away meaning you can spend all day climbing the ropes and crossing the boulders and finish off with a tropical cocktail and killer sunset at Saba Rock.

This perfectly pint sized island has a bustling outdoor restaurant at its heart. Ever popular with the yachting crowd, there’s an electric yet laid back energy that invites barefoot chic lunches that last long into the afternoon. A tiny sweet beach entices with its formidable fantasy colours and hammocks swing lazily in the soft shore breeze. Close by there’s also a dreamy touch tank peppered with coral crusted anchors from a 19th century shipwreck and a breezy boutique for a spot of island shopping.

DAY 5: Saba Rock – Anegada

DISTANCE: 13nm

DURATION: 1h 45m

Anegada is a coral island and the northernmost island of the BVI group. It should not be missed thanks to its beautiful white sand beaches, quaint beach shacks, and the large horseshoe shaped reef that protects its immaculate shores. This unique island is the only inhabited island in the British Virgin Islands that is not volcanic – this low lying island, with a highest point of only 28 ft (8.5m), is made up of coral and limestone and is surrounded by one of the world’s largest reefs.
The island is also known for its large salt ponds which used to be home to thousands of flamingos which were caught for food and their feathers during the 19th & 20th centuries. They have recently been re-introduced to the island and the population is flourishing. Anegada also boasts several species of turtles and the endangered rock iguana.

Day 6:Anegada – Jost Van Dyke

DISTANCE: 28nm

DURATION: 3h 30m

Named after an early Dutch settler, Jost Van Dyke is a small picturesque island northwest of Tortola. At 4 miles long, the island is home to only a few hundred permanent residents and is known for its idyllic yacht anchorages.
It is the ideal spot for those who want to get away from it all. You will be spoiled by its lush green forests, powdery beaches, turquoise waters and not much else!

DAY 7: Jost Van Dyke – Peter Island

DISTANCE: 12nm

DURATION: 1h 30m

Peter Island lies 4 kilometers from the island of Tortola, and is a hotspot for Caribbean luxury charters. It is the largest private island in the BVI. As it is largely underdeveloped, featuring only one hotel, you can enjoy nature trails and walks to discover the wonderful fauna & flora, and enjoy the idyllic Deadman’s Bay beach.
You will also be able to spot various species of turtle around the island and dive or snorkel to discover the beauty offered by the surroundings.

DAY 8: Peter Island – Nanny Cay

DISTANCE: 6nm

DURATION: 45m

Situated on Tortola between Road Town and West End, Nanny Cay Resort and Marina is a must-stop for charter guests exploring the BVI cruising grounds. With easy access to the Sir Francis Drake channel and the 60+ islands scattered across the blue, Nanny Cay is a piece of pure heaven. The resort and marina offer everything from hotel to groceries, chandlery, fuel dock, spa, salon, coffee bar, and full-service boatyard, not to mention multiple dazzling dining options, and dive shops for those who want to duck down beneath the blue. With its first-class amenities, sugar sand beaches, and quintessential BVI vibes, guests can kick back and relax or get active with a range of watersports and other hand-picked activities on land and sea.
