Captain
Tomislav Ukic
Nation: Croatia
Born: 1968
Languages: English, Croatian, Italian
TOMISLAV UKIC
Captain
Tomislav Ukic is a Croatian captain with a long, hands-on seagoing background that began in his hometown of Zadar (born
26 August 1968). He built his foundation as a skipper and sailing instructor, working on small sailing boats across both daily
and weekly charter operations—experience that developed strong instincts for guest management, safety, and efficient dayto-
day running of a yacht. After several busy seasons, he broadened his operational exposure by working on both sailing and
motor boats in the Adriatic charter environment, gaining valuable versatility across different yacht types and charter rhythms.
Building on this, Tomislav advanced to larger yachts in the Mediterranean, operating vessels from 20m motor yachts
through to 40m sailing yachts, and preparing for more demanding offshore programs. His career includes the experience
and preparation required for challenging Atlantic crossings, including a Mediterranean–South America route and return
aboard S/Y ELLEN (Perini Navi). This combination of charter intensity, Mediterranean command experience, and oceancrossing
competence makes him equally effective on both motor and sailing platforms.

LUKE GROVE
Deckhand
Luke was born in Johannesburg city, South Africa in 2000. He started his maritime career as temporary deckhand in
United Arab Emirates. With the passion determination and knowledge gained from his first experience on board which
was last 14 months he got a permanent position on 99 meter yacht. That was very valuable experience for him because
work on such a big vessel require strong discipline and strong work ethic. He was working there as a tender driver. Also
he was responsible for maintenance and all repairs on tender such as teak replacing.
Luke is excited that he has opportunity to work on sailing yacht which will fulfill the whole range of navigation
experience.

years he showed a strong interest in engines, and after middle school he attended a mechanical school to deepen his
knowledge and build solid technical foundations. During his studies, he strengthened his practical abilities through an
internship at a local shipyard.
After graduating in 2016, From 2020 to 2022 he served as chief engineer on S/Y Principessa VaiVia (Perini Navi 40m),
and he is currently chief engineer on S/Y ELLEN. He is described as a universal technician, able to resolve a wide range
of technical problems and handle multiple tasks, skills that become especially valuable during the charter period, when
he can also support guest operations by helping deliver guests wherever they want to go with the boat tender. With
a friendly personality and broad technical competence, he’s positioned as a strong contributor to smooth, reliable
onboard operations and guest enjoyment.
Rates are Plus Expenses

Med Term pricing is cost (cost of the boat) + VAT (country tax) + APA (operating and provisioning expenses). The cost is the weekly rate for the charter. The VAT and APA are calculated on the cost of the boat and paid in addition to that base price. The APA covers: fuel, water, food, licenses, alcohol, and any specific items you would like provided to you. APA money that is not used for provisioning would be reimbursed to you- or, if you spend over the amount, they would charge you. The Captain keeps track of expenses and would let you know if you’re reaching your APA limit. This is the industry standard for the region.

Caribbean Terms or Caribbean Inclusions refer to all-inclusive rates. These boats are typically catamarans and monohulls and are found in the Caribbean.

Most (but not all) motor-yachts and sailing vessels in the Med are Med Rate terms.

The yachts featured on our website will specifically state which type of pricing they offer.
