Meet Mandy Walker

In 2006, my partner (now husband) dared us to move to another country and start a business. I challenged the dare, and three months later, we had purchased a house with land he had never toured, in a country he had never visited. We had no idea how much the decision to open a small grocery store (which we sold in 2013 but it is still going strong — www.matagrandegrocery.com) in our front yard in Belize would change our lives and the way we view life.

Thirteen years later, we still seek the next life adventure. With experience living in multiple countries (Belize for six years, Mexico for one, and of course our hometown Bellingham, WA USA), and travel to over 35 countries, we are more than just experts in the locations and trips we represent. We have lived them!

Today, Jason is a USCG 100 Ton licensed captain who has been a private charter captain for several years in Belize and Alaska. He brings his passion for fishing, kiteboarding, sailing, and love of travel to each guest he serves aboard.

After spending several years as a Reservation Director for a sailing and travel company in Belize, I opened Where Land Meets Sea Charters to include sailing and motor vessel trips to anywhere in the world. With over 650 charters organized and booked, I can plan and foresee most questions, whether it’s packing advice, hotel issues, or transportation logistics — I can answer and assist as needed.

Whether you are looking for a last-minute getaway or a large group celebration, I am here to help. In October 2019, our adventures continued when we purchased a house on St. Thomas. We will meet you on the dock the day you begin your charter. I look forward to meeting everyone who books for the Virgin Islands!

Charter Yacht Specialist

I’m a sailor, skier, traveller, and a lover of the outdoors and adventure! I’ve spent much of my life in the mountains as an alpine ski racer and coach. In 2008, I jumped into the sailing world with the same fervour: competing, teaching, cruising, and captaining charters…and simply loving life on the water!

I began my sailing career in Seattle, racing a multitude of boats, then venturing out for my first Pacific crossing from Mazatlan, Mexico to Hiva Oa, French Polynesia. After leisurely exploring the islands for several months, I was more than hooked! These experiences led me to Belize (following after Mandy and Jason) and to captaining sailboat charters. I truly feel it is the very best way to experience an island, travel, and it makes for the perfect holiday.

I now live in Greece full-time on the island of Poros in the Saronic Gulf. Being on the ground year-round means I can share first-hand knowledge of the Greek islands, crews and yachts with our clients, and help with all of our Mediterranean charters. One of my favourite parts is meeting our guests in person when their charters stop in the Saronic!

Charter Yacht Specialist

Mavis fell in love with the British Virgin Islands when she spent her honeymoon there in 2000. Since then, she has not stopped traveling all over the world, and seeing some of the most beautiful ocean waters (Thailand, Australia, Caribbean, Hawaii, and more).

As a full time travel agent and charter broker with Wlms Yacht Charters, Mavis is constantly learning about the industry and attending boat shows to personally tour the boats and meet the crews first hand.
Mavis is always ready to plan her clients’ next specialized trip – whether it be an ocean cruise, river cruise or a BVI yacht charter. She is always ready to seek out new adventure!

In her spare time, she enjoys spending time at home in North Carolina with her husband, 2 sons and her favorite child, the fur baby, Kona. She loves to travel the world with her family and friends.

I’ve spent nearly two decades immersed in luxury yachting and hospitality, guided by a lifelong connection to the sea and a love of meaningful, experience-driven travel. Growing up sailing in the Pacific Northwest and with parents who loved to adventure, sparked a deep passion for the water and travel. This led me to the Caribbean after university—intending a short work visit, but discovering a lifelong career in yachting.

While in the islands, I teamed up with my best friend, partner, and husband. We ran yachts, both charter and private and living onboard together for over a decade together throughout the Caribbean and beyond. Over time, I have logged more than 15,000 nautical miles at sea, earning a 100 Ton Master Captain’s license and PADI dive certification along the way.

During my time as professional yacht crew, also involved in yacht management, and onboard chef and hostess, I gained hands-on expertise in yacht operations, layouts, crew dynamics, and the details that elevate a charter from good to an enhanced, seamless and unforgettable travel experience.

When starting a family in 2016, my experience and role in the yachting industry was organically redefined and evolved to focus on guiding clients as a charter specialist and broker, thoughtfully matching yachts, crews, and destinations world wide to each travel style. I am an active member of CYBA, VIPCA, and CYS, ensuring every recommendation is current, trusted, and well-vetted.

Yachting has been central to both my personal and professional life. We’re raising two adventure-seeking children and prioritize a life shaped by experience, balance and connection. Outside of charter planning, I love traveling the world and adventuring with my family outdoors – both on the sea, heading to thee mountains, and in comforts close to home. (Sailing, paddle boarding, skiing, hiking, curating new flavors in the kitchen, practicing yoga and working in the garden.)

She was responsive to all of our questions and helped us choose the right boat for our family. Everything was exactly as she said it would be from
the initial booking, making payments, giving her advice on different boats and sending links to help us with the ferry!  Mandy was a delight to work with and I would recommend her to everyone!!

We arrived in Tortola and we were met by Nick our captain and Jade our chef!  They are young. Smart, energetic, fun and aimed to please!  They even came along in the waters while we snorkeled and led us to all their favorite spots.  We swam with everything in the sea!

Jade’s cooking was awesome!! Every meal and snack was well thought out, interesting and delicious!!  And I mean delicious!! No wonder she won the culinary award last fall!!

Our week with our boys and their wives can be summed up in my Mother’s Day letter that I received a few days after we got home.  He said , it wasn’t just the sailing , the boat, the waters and the delicious food but I will never forget spending  the week with all my favorite people I!! Those words made it all worthwhile and I know we will all never forget it!!

Happened upon Mavis @ WLMS yacht Charters thru a recommendation, and after providing trip specs, priorities, group demographics and dietary preferences, she provided 4-5 available boats to consider for our trip. Amazing what you can discern reading and re-reading the vibe of each crew and the water toys they emphasize and the boat's features they promote. Given we aspired to dive everyday, be active everyday, as well stay and eat on the boat every night, we filtered the alternatives quickly. Luckily, we found Karma and its crew of Harry & Kristen available for our blissful week of joy and laughter and too many Rum specials and spectacular dives, and impeccable Just so attention and gourmet, i mean Bib Gourmand Michelin style breakfast, lunches, dinners and everything in between. The attention to detail was perfect, never too much when a book and nap were close at hand, but daily schedule highlights, hustle when necessary and just a refined level of engagement and enjoyment in what the crew was providing. it was the most impressive 24/7 service, while not being intrusive, which is a delicate task on a 50 foot yacht.I know i'm forgetting so much, but i just wanted to highly recommend Mavis for her help getting started with the daunting process, but also to Harry & Kristen for going above and beyond and making our special trip as wonderful as they did

 Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Four female friends (ages 60+) chartered the Sandy Cinco in early April, 2026. One of us had cruised the BVI on two prior boats, and this one was by far the best!  The boat is spacious, clean, and very well managed. The upper deck is a game changer (most don’t have this). The Captain, Mike, is an excellent sailor, and he went out of the way to show us places in the BVI that no others ever took us. He knows all the best mooring places. Lizzy’s cooking was excellent in flavor and presentation. We ate like Queens!  We felt at home as soon as we stepped on the boat. They paid careful attention to our Preferences forms and gave us exactly what we were looking for. On top of all that, we were blessed with fantastic weather the entire time. And, when we went onshore, Mike and Lizzy were well known to the locals, who would literally welcome us with hugs.  If you plan to charter for four to eight people, USE THIS BOAT AND CREW! You won’t regret anything. In fact, we hope to return in another year or two and won’t consider any other team or boat. Kudo’s to Mandy Walker, our broker,  who helped match us to this boat and helped with logistics.

From the phenomenal food prepared by the best crew ever, to snorkeling with sea life , zooming through the water on underwater  sea scooters , every moment was magic. We explored islands and hidden caves, watched breathtaking sunrises and sunsets, and even got massages on a floating spa boat!
We made unforgettable memories—from beach motes (beach buggies ) in Anegada to jumping off the plank at Willie T’s and sipping painkillers at the iconic Soggy Dollar. Nights were filled with card games, laughter, and family bonding under the stars.
Huge thanks to the incredible crew of Wanderlust who made this journey so special. Truly a trip of a lifetime !
