Hotel Guide for Where to Stay Before or After Your Yacht Charter

Our Hotel Guide

If you’re planning a crewed yacht charter in the British Virgin Islands, we strongly recommend you stay the night prior to your charter in the region. Since nearly all crewed yachts are based on Tortola, we have taken the time to offer a review of the best hotels to stay at the night prior to charter. We have also added a few additional hotels which are a wonderful addition to create a “Land and Sea” vacation.

Here are our top hotel picks in Tortola to pair perfectly with your luxury yacht vacation in the BVI:

Nanny Cay Marina & Hotel

Best for: Direct marina access and yacht charter convenience

One of the most popular bases for crewed BVI yacht charters, Nanny Cay Marina & Hotel offers unmatched convenience for guests boarding or disembarking their yacht. Located just outside Road Town, the property features recently renovated rooms, an onsite pool, and several casual dining options. Being just steps from many charter docks, it’s ideal if you’re looking for a smooth transition from land to sea.

We have personally stayed in a variety of rooms at Nanny Cay MULTIPLE TIMES. They currently do not offer online booking. Our recommendation: email them directly and request for a room in their “new building.”

Long Bay Beach Resort

Best for: Beachfront luxury on Tortola

If you’re looking to treat yourself before or after your sailing trip, Long Bay Beach Resort delivers boutique beachfront elegance. Located on Tortola’s northwestern coast, this beautifully restored resort offers stylish oceanfront rooms, locally inspired dining, and a peaceful stretch of white sand beach. It’s also conveniently located close to West End Tortola which is a common base for your crewed yacht charter.

It’s a dreamy choice for couples or anyone wanting to pair their luxury yacht charter in the BVI with a luxurious stay ashore.

Sebastian’s on the Beach

Best for: Relaxed beachfront stays with island charm

Tucked away on the West End of Tortola, Sebastian’s on the Beach delivers Caribbean tranquility right on the sand. The breezy oceanfront rooms, open-air restaurant, and laid-back vibe make it a favorite among visitors looking to relax before or after a BVI yacht vacation.

Enjoy your morning coffee with your toes in the sand—or sip a sunset cocktail while waves lap the shore.

Scrub Island Resort, Spa & Marina

Best for: Luxury and convenience if your crewed yacht is based on Scrub Island

Accessible only by boat or ferry, Scrub Island Resort is a private island escape that pairs beautifully with your British Virgin Islands yacht charter. Many crewed charter yachts are based right at Scrub Island’s marina, making it an excellent option for seamless transfers. If you are planning to fly into Tortola’s airport (EIS) locally known as Beef Island, you can enjoy a quick complimentary ferry ride from the airport to Scrub.

From world-class dining and spa treatments to hillside villas and infinity pools, this resort brings indulgence and adventure together in one unforgettable experience.

Rosewood Little Dix Bay – Five-Star Escape on Virgin Gorda

Best For: Families & couples seeking ultimate luxury paired with yacht charter adventures

While not on Tortola, Rosewood Little Dix Bay on nearby Virgin Gorda is easily accessible via private tender or ferry and offers one of the most exclusive resort experiences in the Caribbean. Perfect for guests combining a land stay with a luxury British Virgin Islands yacht charter, this iconic five-star resort features exceptional service, ocean-view villas, wellness offerings, and pristine beaches. There is almost no request the award winning concierge won’t excel at. While we stayed there, the concierge set up Formula 1 Racing in the giant rec room for our viewing, took us out on a complimentary boat ride where they dropped us off at a private island and beach, packed a picnic lunch with champagne and also followed us to make sure we had umbrellas during a random rain storm. We also offer reservations with Rosewood Little Dix Bay. Please contact us for more details.

Most private crewed yachts will also offer flexible pick up and drop off at Little Dix Bay or at Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbour.

Saba Rock Resort – Boutique Bliss in the North Sound

Best For: Couples looking for a upmarket place to stay a few days after charter

Tucked between Virgin Gorda and Prickly Pear Island, Saba Rock is a small, stylish island resort that’s become a legendary stop for sailors in the BVI. Following an impressive post-hurricane rebuild, this chic resort now offers boutique rooms, an overwater restaurant, and a lively bar scene.

Rooms are spacious with a lot of small touches such as soft under bed lighting, black out shades, quality king beds and fine hotel linen collection.

Yacht charter guests often anchor nearby in the North Sound and visit Saba Rock for dinner, drinks, or an overnight stay in one of its few upscale suites.
