Captain Matthew "Bruce" Whitehead
American / Swedish

Matthew "Bruce" Whitehead has over 15 years in the maritime industry and a lifetime of experience in, on, and around the water. Growing up in Florida, he spent his youth racing high performance sailboats, teaching and coaching sailing, and went on to campaign for the 2016 Olympics in the Sport of Sailing. Matthew then competed on several professional circuits such as the World Match Race Tour, the Red Bull Youth Americas Cup, and the Extreme Sailing Series.

Since a serious injury in 2018, Matthew shifted his focus from sailboat racing to working as a Yacht Captain. For the past 7 years he has chartered and delivered yachts in various destinations in the Mediterranean, Caribbean, South Pacific, and Indian Oceans. Matthew has worked 4 summer seasons in Greece and loves the food, culture, and history of the country. In his free time, Matthew enjoys traveling, hiking, and spending time with family and friends.

Flora and Bruce have worked together many times before, and make a great team!

2025 rates

High Season (July - August): euro 26.000 per week plus expenses (13% VAT & APA 25%)
Mid-Season (June - September): euro 23.500 per week plus expenses (13% VAT & APA 25%)
Low Season (rest months): euro 18.500 per week plus expenses (13% VAT & APA 25%)

Skipper & Hostess included
Hostess to prepare breakfast and lunch every day, and dinner 1 or 2 times during the week.

Med Term pricing is cost (cost of the boat) + VAT (country tax) + APA (operating and provisioning expenses). The cost is the weekly rate for the charter. The VAT and APA are calculated on the cost of the boat and paid in addition to that base price. The APA covers: fuel, water, food, licenses, alcohol, and any specific items you would like provided to you. APA money that is not used for provisioning would be reimbursed to you- or, if you spend over the amount, they would charge you. The Captain keeps track of expenses and would let you know if you’re reaching your APA limit. This is the industry standard for the region.

Caribbean Terms or Caribbean Inclusions refer to all-inclusive rates. These boats are typically catamarans and monohulls and are found in the Caribbean.

Most (but not all) motor-yachts and sailing vessels in the Med are Med Rate terms.

The yachts featured on our website will specifically state which type of pricing they offer.
