Where Land Meets Sea Yacht Charters was fortunate enough to be invited to attend the Turkey Yacht Charter Show which just finished up in Gocek, Turkey. As Rory nor I had ever been to Turkey let alone toured the charter vessels, we were both excited but honestly had no idea what to expect. The TYBA Board which is comprised of local charter brokers, owners and yacht managers literally rolled out the red carpet for us and could not have been more welcoming if they tried. Immediately following charter yacht show in Gocek, Rory was then whisked away on a 102′ gulet called Getaway for a 5 night yacht charter to better familiarize herself with the charter cruising grounds.
Highlights and favorite spots that they visited aboard of Rory’s 5 night charter …”We sailed in the Gulf of Fethiye and Göcek- I loved Kleopatra Adasi (Cleopatra Cove)- and went hiking on the peninsula. St Nicholas Island is beautiful- we hiked up Gemiler to the top for gorgeous views and Massum (our stew) hiked up ahead for champagne and treats for when we arrived. KAYAKÖY – OF FETHIYE… it’s a deserted town we hiked to- originally settled by Greeks, they were forced to leave in a resettlement… there is now a Turkish town at the base. A gorgeous hike. Honestly, I could not have asked for a better FAM charter experience!”
If you have chartered with us in the past and are looking for the next great charter adventure we can now say that you should put Turkey on the short list. We think it’s a wonderful charter location for those seeking a new experience that offers stunning scenery while learning about a new culture.
