Our tour of the Caribbean recovery continues…
On November 9th, we left Tortola, BVI for St Thomas, US Virgin Islands to attend the VIPCA Yacht Show. As with the BVI’s, having not been since Hurricane Irma, I was hopeful but still didn’t know exactly what to expect. And what a FABULOUS surprise it was to see such recovery!

The VIPCA Yacht Show was hosted at Yacht Haven Grande Marina. The amount of work put into recovery to be ready for the show was quite incredible. The docks were wide and accommodated a huge array of yachts. The grounds were beautifully maintained with curving paths leading to shops, restaurants, cafes, and coffee houses. It was lovely to spend each day there viewing yachts and meeting people -then occasionally darting off for little escapes in one of the nearby restaurants or cafes.
Mandy stayed at the Lindbergh Hotel close to the airport while I enjoyed a bit on time in Charlotte Amalie. Each morning, on my way to coffee, I watched as construction crews rebuilt the cobblestone Main Street- they were very close to having it finished and shops were already open for the season. Charlotte Amalie is looking good!

At the end of the yacht show, I had a few days to spend in St Thomas and also to pop over to St John. I enjoyed a fabulous sunny afternoon at Hawk’s Nest Beach and then wandered through Cruz Bay to some of my favorite shops and restaurants. It was a beautiful day- I love visiting St John!
So, while recovery is still an ongoing process, the USVI are ready and everyone is excited for the season! There are so many new yacht options- and fabulous places to visit! We are constantly adding new yachts and information to our website- take a look at the links below…then plan on heading back to the Caribbean!
