MEET THE CREW - 2019/20 SEASON
Captain: Keagan Steyn
Chef/First Mate: Olivia Boyd

Keagan completed his Royal Yacht Academy (RYA) Coastal Yacht Master License with Commercial Endorsement in June 2017. His love for sailing began through exposure to boating and sailing with his family, particularly in the Virgin Islands. He has over two thousand logged miles and has captained charters in the USVI and BVI.

Keagan has led an adventurous lifestyle during his 25 years, beginning with his early years in South Africa and life on a game farm riding ATV’s, camping, hunting and skeet shooting. His family relocated to the USA where he continued his outdoor adventures water skiing, wake-boarding and boating at their lake house in Virginia as well as snow skiing, snowboarding and dirt bike riding. He has also bungee jumped the 3rd highest bungee in the world at 216m, has been shark cage diving and sky-diving. He too is scuba certified.

Keagan took a gap year after high school and back-packed through Fiji, Australia, Thailand, Cambodia, Panama and Cost Rica before attending Colorado University where he earned his degree in marketing and in addition, an entrepreneurial certificate.

Keagan is a ‘people person’, hence enjoys meeting new people and building close relationships with others. His peers describe him as an outgoing, enthusiastic person with a positive attitude and terrific communication skills.

Olivia is a natural people-person with a talent for making you feel as though you’ve known her forever – fun loving, vivacious and energetic – she will be sure to create a warm stay that will be enjoyable and carefree for each of her guests.

Warm weather and a passion for the sea brought her from Northern Virginia to The University of Tampa, Florida, where she thoroughly enjoyed being closer to the sea. She has always been an avid traveler and found a love for the Virgin Islands after visiting many times with her family during her childhood.

Olivia's cooking experience has come from helping and working in her home kitchen with family and friends. Her family are wonderfully sociable and so she has grown up in a home with great hosts as her role models. She has had experience working on charter in the USVI/BVI this past summer and recently attended Ashburton Chefs Academy in the UK to further improve her culinary skills.
.
Along with her enthusiasm for travel, cooking, and hospitality, she has also found joy in photography. After studying not only digital, but film photography, Olivia will be sure to capture each Kodak moment as they come.

Without a doubt, Olivia and Keagan will strive to create the most memorable vacation you, your friends, and your family could ever experience

Outstanding Job!
It was my first time yachting and it was wonderful. I especially enjoyed riding the mopeds around Anegada and hiking around The Baths. Keagan did an outstanding job helping us with our itinerary and helping us decide what to do along the way to make sure we got the most out of our trip. He was also a nice guy to be with. I was especially pleasantly surprised to have AC in our cabins for a good nights sleep. Toys were good but I mostly enjoyed laying out in the sun relaxing. Captain Keagan did an outstanding job and 'tolerated' us well :) Claire was absolutely amazing. Every meal was incredible and it completely exceeded any of our expectations. She immediately became part of the family. She was 100% a part of what made our week on board so great and I couldn’t imagine the week without her.
Made the Trip!
I will say our experience with Keagan was outstanding. The service that Keagan offered us and the knowledge of the islands made the trip one of our best to the Virgin Islands. He went above and beyond to make sure the trip went well. I really appreciate that Keagan rolled with the flow and changed course whenever needed. I would say that I would only charter with Keagan in the future! Claire was phenomenal. She also was working incredibly hard, but cooked us amazing meals and took care of the ship while letting us enjoy ourselves. We love her. Thank you for everything.
We Lucked out!
We lucked out! 10/10 - highly recommended. We couldn't have lucked out anymore! Keagan you made this a lifetime experience. Very professional yet also great fun when required! Hard working and very committed to keeping customers happy. Claire made amazing food, she is a great chef. Food was bloody amazing and I think Claire is simply fab. She worked really well with the captain and had a very caring attitude towards clients and always checked up on our welfare. I would love her to be a chef on my yacht in the future! Thank you so much and we will keep in touch!
Until Next year!
Captain Keagan. Captain our Captain, thank you for an awesome adventure for our family - we thank you! We visited many places we knew of and many we didn't. We are grateful that you shared this with us, your knowledge and your expertise, but most of all your laughter and companionship. Claire was absolutely amazing. She always kept everybody's spirits up not only with great food all the time, but with her personality as well. She made sure we were all relaxed and comfortable when lounging, and energized and excited when it was time to explore. Until next year guys!
Memorable Experience!
We had not taken a "full on" family vacation together in 12 years or so. So this was an important decision for me. It was a total surprise for all of my family as they opened their Christmas presents this year. We really connected with Keagan. Claire was fantastic! They both just felt like just another member of our family. Claire cooked amazing food all the time! She was so easy to get along with and had an amazing sense of humor. We had an amazing time snorkeling, just chilling, jumping off the Willy T and hanging in the most beautiful spots in the BVI. We will have years of memories from this trip. We plan to keep in touch and rebook as soon as we can! Thank you for the incredible memorable experience!
What's The Best Thing About This Vacation ........ Everything!!
What’s the best thing about this vacation.....Everything!! Just did seven days on the Sea Dog. Was by far the best trip we have ever been on! We were treated like royalty! So accommodating in every aspect!! Everything was customized to our likings!! Excellent food with great presentation by the chef and top notch captain. I could go on and on!! If you love the ocean it’s a great way to explore God’s majestic creation and be pampered with the finest! Thank you Sea Dog for making our dream come true!!
Another Week In The BVI
One year ago today we were on the Sea Dragon and we just returned from another week in the BVI's on the Sea Dog. Just like last year we had another truly amazing week. From the moment we stepped on board everything was just perfect. Let them know your preferences and it's all provisioned for you. Let them know where you want to go or let them lay out a plan, it's all just so incredibly relaxing and fun. Anegada is a MUST do and has become our favorite place to go. We also love White Bay and visiting Soggy Dollar so you don't want to miss that experience either. I could go on and on...if you've been thinking about doing this, you will not regret it. Cheers,
Most Lovely Family Week!
Many thanks for the most lovely family week on Sea Dog exploring the USVI & BVI. The painkillers were perfect, the food was delish, the beaches were amazing, the water was divine, Catan was a hoot, the friendship bracelets were happiness + your company for the week was superb. We could not have asked for a better week! Love you both and can’t wait until next year
We Look Forward to Next Year
Thank you SO much for everything on this trip, Thank you both for such amazing food and company!!! Swimming and Catan were so much fun and the memories we made will last forever Thanks so much for a wonderful Caribbean experience! The food, the swimming and all of the islands were incredible. Thanks again and I’m looking forward to next year!
Charter SEA DOG And Its Crew - You Will Not Be Disappointed
I had the best experience on SEA DOG! I was very leery of taking a chartered boat. I’ve never taken a vacation like that and wondered if I would enjoy being on a boat for eight days. I am so glad that I took this vacation! It was so special! The crew took us to places my friends had never been. We went to the best pirate show, best snorkeling areas, best beaches . Everywhere we went people knew the crew and loved them! They would take us out snorkeling, riding off-road, eating fresh lobster and had an amazing schedule for us. Every day we woke up to three beautiful meals wonderfully presented. Keegan was the best captain any of our friends on board had ever had! He was full of smiles, laughter and involved himself and all of our activities to help us enjoy them more! He is an excellent captain! The boat was in immaculate condition! Brand new! Four areas on the boat to gather around. All of our friends loved that each one of us had a queen size bed! The boat is laid out wonderfully! It’s was so spacious. I highly recommend anyone going to the BVI‘s to charter SEA DOG. You will not be disappointed!
The Crew Is Absolutely Fabulous!
I just wanted to give you guys an overview of our fabulous charter that we had with you! First of all let’s start with that fabulous boat the Sea Dog! What an amazing boat this one is! Pound for pound foot for foot she is the most accommodating catamaran on the water! The outdoor space on this vessel is incredible. The upper flybridge is amazing! The aft outdoor salon area is spacious and roomy and can accommodate 6 to 8 people easily! The front trampoline area is the best of the three boats we’ve been on… And the best of any other boat we have ever seen. All bedrooms are laid out extremely well and functional. The showers are incredible for a boat shower! OK so the boat is amazing… But the crew is absolutely fabulous! They handle everything with the utmost professionalism and go out of their way to make sure your vacation is everything you dreamed it would be! They are by-far the most adaptable and flexible crew that we have had to date. They can be extremely interactive with you if that is your desire or they can remain in the background going about the business of running the charter. If that is your desire! Very good at reading people and understanding what they want. We found that expressing our wishes of wanting them to interact with us at a high-level at the beginning of our charter made it a fabulous experience for all of us! Captain Keagan has one of the most sincere and meaningful smiles you’ll ever find and his sense of humor will keep you all smiling. He goes out of his way to make sure everything is as you want it to be. His abilities as a captain are second to none. His command of the vessel and his commitment to safety will make you feel at ease the minute you step on the boat. His knowledge of the BVI‘s and his ability to listen to what you want, make it a fabulous experience. We walked away from this vacation not only with the knowledge of it being the best and most amazing charter that we have ever had but friends to add to our friends list! So again thank you very much.
Your Are A Great Team!
I wanted to take a few minutes to let you both know what a wonderful time we had with you last week aboard the beautiful Sea Dog! We had been told how much fun it would be to sail in the Virgin Islands but we had no idea how fantastic it would really be; you two were a big part of making the trip so memorable. Olivia, the food was absolutely delicious! I really appreciate how you went out of your way to make sure there was no cross contamination with seafood. I know that was a lot of extra prep work for you. Keagan, your expertise in handling Sea Dog was amazing to watch. I love how you both took care of the boat as if it were yours. You make a great team.

Cheers,
